Estados Unidos reducirá en un 10 % la capacidad operativa de 40 de sus principales aeropuertos a partir de este viernes, ante la falta de personal por el prolongado cierre del Gobierno federal, que ya es el más largo en la historia del país.
La medida fue anunciada este miércoles por el secretario de Transporte, Sean Duffy, quien explicó que la parálisis de la Administración ha provocado la escasez de unos 2.000 controladores aéreos, lo que obliga a recortar la actividad en los puntos más congestionados del sistema.
El Departamento de Transporte estima que entre 4.000 y 4.500 vuelos diarios, tanto comerciales como de carga, podrían verse afectados por la medida.
