Durante años, Sony se mantuvo con PlayStation Plus una suscripción de paga que le otorgo a sus suscriptores la posibilidad de jugar en línea y además, acceder a juegos gratuitos mes a mes. Sin embargo, la compañía ha optado por actualizar PlayStation Plus y esta nueva edición llega con nuevos videojuegos, que llegará este 13 de junio.
PlayStation Plus se manejará de una forma distinta. Esto debido a que ahora existen tres planes de pago la edición Essential que mantendrá lo básico, es decir, el juego en línea y el acceso a juego gratuitos. El seguno plan PlayStation Plus Extra contará con un catálogo de juegos para PS4 y PS5. Por último, el plan Premium podrá acceder a mayores beneficios como a posibilidad de acceder a juegos de PS1 y PSP. Asimismo, tendrán la posibilidad de realizar pruebas de ciertos videojuegos antes de su lanzamiento.

Cabe señalar que estos juegos no estarán disponibles para los suscriptores del nivel inicial de PlayStation Plus, sino para aquellos con el paquete Extra o el Premium.
