Este jueves, Netflix lanzó el primer tráiler de la nueva serie animada Amos del Universo: Revelación, la cual seguramente está haciendo emocionar a los nostálgicos fanáticos de la saga ochentera liderada por He-Man.

Sin embargo, buena parte de la carga emocional de ese breve audiovisual, de 1 minuto y 35 segundos de duración, recibe el impulso de una poderosa banda sonora, con la canción Holding Out for a Hero, la cual fue escrita originalmente por Jim Steinman y Dean Pitchford y grabada por la británica Bonnie Tyler para la película Footloose (1984).

En el filme, el tema suena durante una bravucona competencia de tractores que termina con la victoria de un jovencísimo Kevin Bacon. Tras su lanzamiento, la canción apenas alcanzó el top 100 en el Reino Unido, pero trepó hasta el segundo lugar el año siguiente (1985).

Posteriormente, Tyler la incluyó en su álbum de estudio Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire (1986).

Veinte años después, el tema aparece en Shrek 2 (2004), pero con la voz de Jennifer Saunders, en una divertida escena que muestra al valiente ogro —convertido en guapo humano— irrumpiendo violentamente en el castillo para rescatar a la princesa Fiona en medio de una fiesta. Y durante los créditos finales la canción consta interpretada por el dúo británico de música electrónica Frou Frou.

Pero existen más versiones de esa pieza musical. Por ejemplo, Ella Mae Bowen la grabó en la adaptación de Footloose en 2011, mientras que Becca Tobin y Melissa Benoist (Superchica) la interpretaron con emoción en el episodio Dynamic Duets del séptimo episodio de la cuarta temporada de la serie Glee (emitido el 22 de noviembre de 2012), y además fue lanzado como sencillo.

Y hasta los fanáticos hacen sus propias versiones clandestinas, como un emotivo video que monta la canción en las escenas de la batalla final de Avengers: Endgame (2019).
